The art collector Doris Nöth, who comes from Ehingen, has donated an extremely extensive collection of modern art to the city, thereby expanding the extensive municipal collection and laying another foundation for the gallery.

The building itself was built in 1624 as a manor and aristocratic court for the Speth baronial family.
